Leaky cell

So, scanning has been derailed for a day because the glass cell compartment is leaking. I came back while scanning a substrate and there was a puddle of electrolyte all over the lego mat and the liquid level was quite low. I patched the lower edge, where it seemed to be coming from, with caulk and let it dry. Today I put more electrolyte in and it was clearly leaking from more places. Not to worry, it's an easy patch job on this end, but something to be aware of. I don't know what brand or type of caulk was used to initially seal the cell, is there any chance the prolonged exposure to NaOH causes this? Might this be avoided by a pretreatment or maintainence step? |
