A few more things about the 3 gear system

Here are a few more things I've learned about the 3 gear system in playing around with it. You can easily detach the top gear to replace the two 8 tooth gears (or vice versa), but in order to remove those pieces from the lower gear, you don't want to have to tear apart the entire station. To remove the gear closest to the servo motor, I suggest using a pair of pliers to pull the axle out of the servo motor. When you have pulled the axle far enough, the gear will fall out. Then you'll just have to hold the axle bushing from the top and bottom over the hole as you push the axle back through the hole and bushing. You can use this same technique with the second 8 tooth gear, or you can use another axle to push the axle from the back to dislodge the gear to replace it with a bushing. Here is the other bit of information that is important about the scanning station. In order to adjust the laser to scan the area that we want, there are several changes that need to be made to the data file (ScanStation.ini). The default settings can be changed to look something like this: [raster] [dataacquisition] [paths] These can easily be changed to make sure your laser scans the entire substrate, and SHOULD be played with!!! Please let me know if you figure out any adjustments that can be made so that we can make this even better! |
